Independent contractor, clients and platform relationship. These terms govern your access to and use of the BuiltForJobs website and mobile application.

Built For Jobs LtdVersion 1.0Effective 13 October 2026

The following terms of service (these “Terms of Service”) govern your access to and use of the BuiltForJobs website and mobile application, including any content, functionality and services offered on or through builtforjobs.com or the BuiltForJobs mobile application (the “Site”) by Built For Jobs Ltd, Golf Hills Streets, Achimota, Accra, Ghana.

Please read the Terms of Service carefully before you start to use the Site. By using the Site, opening an account, or by clicking to accept or agree to the Terms of Service when this option is made available to you, you accept and agree, on behalf of yourself or on behalf of your employer or any other entity (if applicable), to be bound and abide by these Terms of Service. You further acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy. If you do not want to agree to these Terms or the Privacy Policy, you must not access or use the Site. For more detailed policies surrounding the activity and usage on the Site, please access the designated articles herein.

Our Customer Support team is available 24/7 if you have any questions regarding the Site or Terms. You can reach them by submitting a request.

Section 1

The nature of the platform

BuiltForJobs (hereinafter referred to as “the Platform,” “We,” “Us,” or “Our”) operates strictly as a digital marketplace, software provider and facilitator. The Platform provides tools to connect independent tradesmen, artisans and professionals (hereinafter “Service Providers”) with users seeking services (hereinafter “Clients”), and to manage project workflows.

BuiltForJobs does not provide professional or artisan services, nor do we employ Service Providers.

Section 2

Independent contractor status

By creating an account and listing your services on builtforjobs.com you, the Service Provider, explicitly acknowledge and agree to the following.

No employment relationship

Your use of the Platform does not create an employer-employee relationship, agency, partnership, joint venture or franchise between you and Built For Jobs Ltd and its associate entities.

Control of work

You retain absolute control over how, when and where you perform your services. BuiltForJobs does not mandate your working hours, dictate your service methods, or supervise your performance on a client’s site.

Pricing and quotation

You have the sole discretion to set your own prices, prepare your own invoices via our workflow tools, and negotiate directly with Clients.

Tools and equipment

You are entirely responsible for providing your own tools, materials, transportation, safety gear and any equipment necessary to complete the agreed-upon task. BuiltForJobs does not provide tools or stipends for service execution.

Section 3

Non-exclusivity

Service Providers are free to advertise their services elsewhere, work on competing platforms, or maintain their own private client base outside of builtforjobs.com. The Platform does not restrict your right to make a livelihood elsewhere.

Section 4

Vetting, licensing and compliance

Verification

While BuiltForJobs may conduct basic identity verifications (such as Ghana Card checks, reference checks or certification reviews) to enhance community trust, this does not constitute an endorsement, guarantee, confirmation or warranty of the Service Provider’s skills, qualifications, industry certifications, professional body requirements or character.

Legal responsibility

Service Providers are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining all necessary local government permits, business operating licenses, tax registrations (including Ghana Revenue Authority obligations), qualifications and professional certifications required by Ghanaian law to practise their trade or service.

Section 5

Limitation of liability and third-party actions

No liability for work quality

BuiltForJobs is not a party to the contract between the Client and the Service Provider. Consequently, the Platform is not liable for poor workmanship, project delays, damage to property, theft, personal injury, or fatal accidents occurring during the execution of a job.

Dispute resolution

While the Platform provides built-in tools (such as escrow-based milestones) to assist in smooth communication, any legal disputes regarding the quality of work or terms of service must be resolved directly between the Client and the Service Provider.

Indemnity

Both Clients and Service Providers agree to indemnify and hold harmless BuiltForJobs, its shareholders, directors, employees, agents and affiliates from any claims, losses or legal costs arising out of your engagements with third parties found via the Platform.

Section 6

Statutory taxation, VAT and invoice clearance (Act 1151)

All services or jobs facilitated and matched via builtforjobs.com are governed by the statutory tax laws of the Republic of Ghana, specifically the Value Added Tax Act, 2025 (Act 1151). BuiltForJobs operates strictly as a digital marketplace service provider and facilitators’ ledger. In compliance with national electronic commerce directives, statutory taxes (VAT) are computed and applied strictly to the Platform’s service commission value (6% for native marketplace projects and 4% for external workflow management projects), and are not levied against the core base earnings or payouts of the independent Service Provider.

Because you are an independent contractor, BuiltForJobs will not withhold or pay any statutory deductions on your behalf, including but not limited to SSNIT contributions, income tax or health insurance. The Service Provider is solely responsible for filing and paying their own taxes to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) or any government-mandated tax authority.

Section 7

External workflow management system (the 4% rate)

7.1 Scope and eligibility

To support independent Service Providers in formalising their entire business operations, the Platform provides a workflow and escrow tracking tool for “External Projects.” This feature allows a Service Provider to onboard their own pre-existing clients — acquired entirely independent of and off the Platform — to use the Platform’s secure billing, project milestone tracking and escrow protections. A reduced platform commission of 4% plus VAT applies strictly to these pre-authorised External Projects.

7.2 Non-circumvention and anti-poaching restrictions

The core restriction

Service Providers are strictly prohibited from processing any client relationship initiated or discovered through the Platform’s native marketplace matching engine as an External Project.

The 12-month rule

If a Client and a Service Provider are matched natively on the Platform, any subsequent project or transaction executed between those two exact individuals within twelve (12) months of the initial match must be billed at the standard native platform rate of 6%.

System audit

Attempting to move a platform-derived client onto the 4% External Workflow system to evade the standard native fee constitutes a material breach of contract and a direct violation of platform trust and terms of service.

7.3 Algorithmic auditing and enforcement actions

The Platform employs automated fraud-detection scripts and cross-matching filters to audit client telephone numbers, device IDs, transaction locations and chat logs. If a Service Provider is flagged for circumventing native marketplace fees via the External Project feature, the Platform will enforce the following punitive measures.

Retroactive correction

The Platform reserves the right to immediately adjust the transaction ledger and retroactively charge the missing 2% difference (plus corresponding VAT adjustments) from any active escrow balances or future payouts due to the Service Provider.

Permanent deactivation of feature

The Service Provider will permanently forfeit access to the 4% External Workflow management module, forcing all future projects into the standard native 6% tier.

Account suspension

For repeat or severe offences, the Service Provider’s account, verified profile and Ghana Card ID data will be permanently banned from the Platform across all 16 regions.

7.4 Dispute and escrow protections for External Projects

External Projects remain fully bound to the 48-hour completion review clock and the dispute mediation terms set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

While the client was sourced externally, by processing the payment through the Platform’s Paystack framework both parties explicitly agree to give the Platform’s Mediation Desk full authority to hold, split or refund the remaining escrow balance in the event of an unresolvable project deadlock.

Section 8

Refund and cancellation

Our refund policy governs how cancellations, booking modifications and refund requests are handled between Clients and Service Providers registered on builtforjobs.com. By booking a service, selecting a payment route, paying a transportation fee, or logging a transaction on our Platform, both Clients and Service Providers agree to those terms, which can be read in full in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Section 9

Age restrictions

This Site is offered and available to users who are at least 18 years of age and of legal age to form a binding contract. If you are under 18 and at least 13 years of age, you are only permitted to use the Site through an account owned by a parent or legal guardian with their appropriate permission; you are not permitted to create an account in your own name. If you are under 13 you are not permitted to use the Site or the BuiltForJobs services.

The Site is available only to users who are not subject to any economic sanctions or trade restrictions imposed by any applicable jurisdiction. By using the Site, you represent and warrant that you meet all of the legal and professional eligibility requirements. If you do not meet all of these requirements, you must not access or use the Site.

Section 10

Confidentiality

Service Providers should recognise that there might be a need for Clients to disclose certain confidential information to be used by Service Providers for the purpose of delivering the Services, and to protect such confidential information from unauthorised use and disclosure. Service Providers therefore agree to treat any information received from Clients as highly sensitive and classified material. Without derogating from the generality of the above, Service Providers specifically agree to:

  • maintain all such information in strict confidence;
  • not disclose the information to any third parties;
  • not use the information for any purpose except for delivering the Services; and
  • not copy or reproduce any of the information without the Client’s permission.

Section 11

Shipping physical deliverables

Where a job involves delivery of physical items (arts and crafts, collectable items and the like), Service Providers may define a shipping pricing factor. The following applies where a Service Provider and Client have agreed on shipping physical deliverables.

  • Jobs that include a shipping pricing factor must have physical deliverables sent to Clients.
  • Shipping costs added to a job pertain only to the cost the Service Provider requires to ship physical items to the Client.
  • If a job requires an item to be physically delivered, the Client will be required to provide a shipping address.
  • Service Providers are responsible for all shipping arrangements once the Client provides the shipping address.
  • BuiltForJobs does not handle or guarantee shipping, tracking, quality or condition of items or their delivery, and shall not be responsible or liable for any damages or other problems resulting from shipping.
  • A tracking number is a good way to avoid disputes related to shipping. We require the tracking number to be provided, if available, in the job card messaging feature.

Section 12

Recommendation system

We make personalised recommendations of content to our users in order to enhance the experience on builtforjobs.com. Our search system connects Clients with Service Providers by focusing on relevance, client satisfaction and personalisation. Understanding how the system works helps Clients find the right skill and helps Service Providers understand how their listings are surfaced on the Platform. We use a combination of ranking factors, special listing types, behavioural data, location and client reviews to ensure the most relevant results appear for every search.

Section 13

Reviews

Reviews provided by Clients are an essential part of the BuiltForJobs rating system. Reviews will not be removed unless there are clear violations of our Terms. To prevent misuse of our review system, all reviews must come from legitimate and eligible jobs and contracts. Jobs arranged or determined to artificially enhance a Service Provider’s ratings, or to abuse the Site, may result in permanent suspension of all related accounts. Withholding information required to complete a job with the intent to gain favourable reviews is prohibited. Service Providers may not solicit the removal of feedback reviews from their Clients through mutual cancellations. Once both the Service Provider and the Client have completed their reviews, or the applicable review period has passed, all posted reviews are made public.

Section 14

User conduct and protection

BuiltForJobs maintains a friendly, community-spirited and professional environment. Users should keep to that spirit while using any feature of our Platform. This section relates to the conduct expected of users while interacting with each other on builtforjobs.com. Mass account creation may result in the disabling of all related accounts. Any violation of our Terms may be cause for permanent suspension of all accounts.

We do not tolerate users who engage in targeted abuse or harassment towards other users, including creating multiple new accounts to harass members through our messaging or job system.

Selling accounts

You may not buy or sell BuiltForJobs accounts.

Section 15

  • Any provisions of the Terms that relate to the relationship between a Service Provider and a Client regarding jobs on BuiltForJobs will remain in effect even after you deactivate your account, or after your access is disabled.

Section 19

Dispute resolution and binding arbitration

Any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms of Service, including its formation, validity, breach or termination, shall be referred to and finally resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act, 2010 (Act 798) of Ghana. The place of arbitration shall be Accra, Ghana, and the language of the proceedings shall be English. The parties agree that the arbitral award shall be final and binding, and judgment upon the award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction.

Class action waiver

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU AND BUILT FOR JOBS LTD AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION.

You explicitly agree that you will not bring a claim as a plaintiff or a class member in any purported class, collective or representative proceeding. The arbitrator shall not have the authority to combine or consolidate the claims of more than one individual, nor preside over any form of representative or class proceeding. If this class action waiver is found to be illegal or unenforceable as to any part of a dispute, then that specific portion shall be severed and brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Ghana, while the remainder of the dispute shall proceed to individual arbitration.

Exception for small claims court

Notwithstanding the agreement to resolve all disputes through mandatory binding arbitration, either party may bring an individual action in a District Court or Small Claims Court of competent jurisdiction in Ghana, provided that the claim qualifies for that court’s jurisdiction and remains strictly an individual action. If a claim is moved or appealed out of the Small Claims Court to a higher court, the dispute must immediately be referred back to binding arbitration under the terms of this agreement.

ANY ARBITRATION UNDER THE TERMS WILL TAKE PLACE ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY AGREEING TO THESE TERMS, YOU AND BUILTFORJOBS ARE EACH WAIVING THE RIGHT TO TRIAL BY JUDGE OR TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, A CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION, CLAIMS BROUGHT IN A REPRESENTATIVE CAPACITY, OR CONSOLIDATED CLAIMS INVOLVING ANOTHER USER OF OUR SERVICES.

How to opt out

If you do not want to be bound by this arbitration agreement, you must notify us in writing by email to opt-out-arbitration@builtforjobs.com within 30 days of your agreement to these Terms of Service, stating that you do not want to resolve disputes with BuiltForJobs by arbitration.

Modifications to this arbitration agreement

If we make any changes to this arbitration agreement while you are a user of the Site or services, you may reject any such change by notifying us in writing by email to opt-out-arbitration@builtforjobs.com within 30 days of the change. However, such written notice does not constitute an opt-out of arbitration altogether. By rejecting a future change, you agree that you will arbitrate any dispute between us in accordance with the language of this arbitration agreement as of the date you first accepted these Terms of Service.

Section 20

General terms

20.1 Changes to these Terms

  • BuiltForJobs may make changes to these Terms from time to time. When these changes are made, we will make a new copy of the Terms available on this page.
  • You understand and agree that if you use BuiltForJobs after the date on which the Terms have changed, we will treat your use as acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you will have to deactivate your account.
  • We may change these Terms due to changes in the Site, its policies or the services, in the usual course of developing our product, due to changes in any relevant feature or functionality of the Site, changes in circumstances beyond our reasonable control, to adapt to new technologies, and to address changes in law and regulatory requirements as well as security and fraud issues.
  • Apart from changes made in accordance with this section, and your ability to opt out of the requirement to arbitrate by email notice under section 19, no modification, waiver or amendment to these Terms is effective unless made in writing and signed by you and Built For Jobs Ltd.

20.2 Indemnification

To the fullest extent possible pursuant to applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold BuiltForJobs harmless, including its officers, directors, shareholders, employees, affiliates and agents, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, debt and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from: (1) your violation of any of these Terms or any other of our terms, policies and standards; (2) any claim or demand regarding the nature of the relationship between Client and Service Provider as an independent contractor; (3) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property right, access rights, property or privacy right; and/or (4) any other type of claim that your job page, Service Provider page, services, your profile and/or your use of the Site or our services caused to a third party, provided that we have acted with reasonable professional diligence. We reserve the right to handle our legal defence however we deem fit — even if you are indemnifying us — in which case you agree to cooperate with us so we can execute our strategy.

20.3 Severability

If any part of the Terms is found to be unenforceable, that part will be limited to the minimum extent necessary so that the Terms will otherwise remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any part of the Terms is not a waiver of our right to later enforce that or any other part of the Terms.

20.4 Assignment

All the terms and provisions of the Terms will be binding upon and inure to the benefit of the parties and to their respective heirs, successors, permitted assigns and legal representatives. BuiltForJobs may assign or otherwise transfer its rights and/or obligations under the Terms without your consent or notice to you, unless otherwise required by applicable law. You may not assign or transfer any of your rights and obligations under the Terms without our prior written consent. Any attempted or actual assignment without our prior explicit and written consent will be null and void.

20.5 Entire agreement

Our Terms constitute the entire agreement concerning the subject matter therein, and supersede any other agreement regarding the Site or services.

20.6 Interpretation

  • Any heading, caption or section title contained herein, and any explanation or summary column, is provided only for convenience, and in no way alters or amends the provisions within the Terms, nor shall it legally bind us in any way.
  • The original language of the Terms is English. In case of conflict between the original English version and any translation, the English version shall prevail.
